Christian Quotes that Speak to My Heart

We all have our favorite Bible teachers and pastors who inspire us, motivate us, and guide us toward a deeper relationship with God.  I thought it might be interesting to gather together some Christian quotes that touched me and stimulated my mind to look closer at myself, the Christian church as a whole, and the lost souls of this world who do not yet know Jesus.  I’ve added some topic headings but realistically these all overlap into the total experience of Searching for God, Knowing God, Sharing God, Walking with God, and Trusting God.  I don’t think the precise order or placement of these Christian quotes is as important as the impact they have on your heart and your understanding of the relationship you have with Jesus.

Pray that God will speak to you as you read these words.  Let Him shape their meaning in a manner that focuses on your life and the truth you need to hear.  These are the words of men who have experienced God in this world and their reflections may resonate with your travels in a way that brings clarity, guidance, and direction.  Let the Holy Spirit use this exercise to move you closer to your Savior, Jesus Christ.

Searching for God

“You’re born. You suffer. You die. Fortunately, there’s a loophole.”

 Billy Graham

“The God of this world is riches, pleasure and pride.”

Martin Luther

“If it suddenly became impossible for us to cover up all the junk we normally hide from the rest of humanity, I have a feeling we would all get real motivated to deal with the source of what ails us.”

Andy Stanley

“We are either in the process of resisting God’s truth or in the process of being shaped and molded by his truth.”

Charles Stanley

“The Bible is the greatest of all books; to study it is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.”

  Charles C. Ryrie

“If you lower the ambient noise of your life and listen expectantly for those whispers of God, your ears will hear them. And when you follow their lead, your world will be rocked.”

Bill Hybels

“You were made by God and for God, and until you understand that, life will never make sense.”

 Rick Warren

Knowing God

“Christianity is not a doctrine, not truth as truth, but the knowledge of a Person; it is knowing the Lord Jesus. You cannot be educated into being a Christian.”

T. Austin-Sparks

“Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time.”

Oswald Chambers

“Until you have given up yourself to Him, you will not have a real self.”

C.S. Lewis

“Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ”

 Billy Graham

Sharing God

“Compelled by this clear biblical mandate [Matt. 28: 19-20], Christians through the centuries have taken the saving message of the gospel to the ends of the earth. It’s the only reason we’re still here. True Christians are already saved and sealed for eternity. There’s no reason to leave us on earth, except for the responsibility of evangelism.”

John MacArthur

“If you are not concerned about your neighbor’s salvation, then I am concerned for yours.”

Ray Comfort

“The highest form of worship is the worship of unselfish Christian service. The greatest form of praise is the sound of consecrated feet seeking out the lost and helpless.”

 Billy Graham

“It comes from service. It is by giving our lives away that we find meaning, because that’s the way we’re wired, I believe, by God.”

 Rick Warren

“We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won’t need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don’t fire cannons to call attention to their shining- they just shine.”

 Dwight L. Moody

“You should point to the whole man Jesus and say, ‘That is God’.”

Martin Luther

Walking With God

”Your prayer for someone may or may not change them, but it always changes YOU.”

Craig Groeschel

“Remember, a small light will do a great deal when it is in a very dark place. Put one little tallow candle in the middle of a large hall, and it will give a good deal of light.”

Dwight L. Moody

“Teaching is of more importance than urging.”

Martin Luther

“Trials are medicines which our gracious and wise Physician prescribes because we need them; and he proportions the frequency and weight of them to what the case requires. Let us trust his skill and thank him for his prescription.”

Isaac Newton

“The Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Great Physician, heals people and makes them whole again. And we’ve got to be out there as God’s people, obeying the Great Commission.”

Ed Young

“If you have not chosen the Kingdom of God first, it will in the end make no difference what you have chosen instead.”

William Law

“We talk of the Second Coming; half the world has never heard of the first.:

Oswald J. Smith

“There isn’t a single motivation, thought, act, or word that has slipped out of your being and escaped the full, undivided attention of God.”

Bill Hybels

“If your Gospel isn’t touching others, it hasn’t touched  you!”

Curry R. Blake

Trusting God

“Knowing that we are fulfilling God’s purpose is the only thing that really gives rest to the restless human heart.”

Chuck Colson

“Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you an automobile.”

 Billy Sunday

“There is no better evangelist in the world than the Holy Spirit.”

Dwight L. Moody

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the great and foremost commandment.  And a second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
